Minister of Planning Mohammed Tamim declared on Wednesday, the successful execution of the national census program, extending his gratitude to the Religious Authorities for their support.
Addressing the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Tamim stated, “There has been continuous oversight by the Prime Minister, whose support over the past year and a half has been invaluable to the census project.”
He continued, “The initial census operations commenced early today, with the first citizen registered in the Jadool Al-garbi district of Karbala. The successful transmission of this data marked a significant achievement for the system we've meticulously updated. Subsequently, data began arriving at the data center, updating every 30 minutes.”
Tamim noted, “The process is proceeding smoothly, and we have a comprehensive plan to ensure its full success. The accurate statistical data collected will provide a clear roadmap for development, benefiting both the current government and future administrations.”
He highlighted the exemplary cooperation from citizens with the enumerators, as well as the support from security forces, which facilitated various aspects of the census process, particularly concerning the curfew and the transportation of enumerators.
“There is a strong national campaign driving the success of this initiative, with coordinated efforts from all sectors, including the enumerators from the Ministry of Planning, the Ministry of Education, other ministries, security forces, and various social and religious actors,” Tamim emphasized.
The Minister of Planning also expressed his appreciation to “the religious authorities for guiding citizens in providing necessary information, and the head of the Sunni Endowment Office, who used Friday sermons over six weeks to raise awareness and encourage cooperation with the enumerators. Moreover, we are grateful to the media for its significant role in supporting and aiding the success of this project, and for its ongoing contributions.”
