The Competitions Committee of the Gulf Football Federation held a meeting in the presence of the representative of Iraq, Secretary-General of the Football Federation, Mohammed Farhan, in addition to representatives of other national federations.
A statement by the Football Association received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "the meeting, which was held at the Waldorf Hotel in the Avenues Mall in the capital, Kuwait, discussed the mechanism of the draw for the Gulf Championship (26), which will be held today, Saturday, in the presence of representatives of the eight participating teams, as well as a number of Gulf football stars."
It added that "the Kuwaiti national team will head the first group as the host, while our national team will head the second group for winning the title of the last edition, while the rest of the teams will be distributed in the draw into the two groups, with the first and second of each group qualifying for the semi-finals."
