Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi criticized the German government's decision to close Iranian consulates on Friday.
Araghchi said in a tweet via the X platform, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Closing Iranian consulates in Germany constitutes a punishment against Iranians residing in that country, most of whom also hold German citizenship."
He added that "by supporting a terrorist who killed 14 innocent people and injured more than 200 others, the German government is punishing tens of thousands of other Iranians holding German passports, and anyone can see the wisdom in this decision."
"I assure our Iranian citizens residing in Germany that we are doing our utmost to compensate for this inconvenience by strengthening the consular sections of our embassy in Berlin and other nearby diplomatic missions," noting that "in the meantime, look at the terrorist criminal whom the German authorities sought to protect."
