Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman stressed on Tuesday that attempts to disregard the Palestinian cause would lead to the continuation of the state of conflict in the region, calling for the initiation of calming steps that include a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon.

Al-Sisi received Prince bin Salman and discussed regional developments, most notably the situations in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, where they agreed on the seriousness of the regional situation and the necessity of stopping the escalation, according to the official Egyptian Middle East News Agency.

The two leaders stressed that "establishing a sovereign Palestinian state, by international legitimacy resolutions, is the only way to achieve calm, peace and security in the region in a sustainable manner."

They highlighted that "attempts to disregard the Palestinian cause would lead to the continuation of the state of conflict in the region, calling for the initiation of calming steps that include a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, addressing the worsening humanitarian conditions and stopping the brinkmanship policies to stop the widening circle of conflict, in addition to the necessity of respecting the sovereignty, security, stability and territorial integrity of Lebanon."

Al-Sisi and Bin Salman also discussed several regional issues, most notably the security of the Red Sea region, and the situations in Sudan, Libya and Syria," added the Agency.
