Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met on Saturday, with the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent High Electoral Commission-IHEC, Omar Ahmed Mohammed, and members of the IHEC Board of Commissioners.
“The meeting discussed the ongoing preparations by the Independent High Electoral Commission for the upcoming 6th Kurdistan Region Parliamentary Elections, scheduled for October 20, and ensuring that all necessary arrangements are in place for this significant democratic practice,” stated the Media Office of the Prime Minister in a statement, received by The Iraqi News Agency-INA.
The statement further stated that “The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government's support for the Independent High Electoral Commission efforts and the provision of all necessary requirements for the electoral process. He emphasized the need for IHEC and its staff to make every effort as the election date nears, ensuring neutrality, transparency, and electoral fairness to safeguard the votes, enabling free and fair elections that reflect the aspirations of the citizens of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq”.
