US Embassy to (INA): We oppose any action that targets Sayyed Al-Sistani

INA- BAGHDAD
Sayyid Ali al-Sistani, the Supreme Religious Authority, is not to be targeted, the US embassy in Iraq declared on Thursday. The embassy stated that Sayyid Al-Sistani is a powerful and decisive voice advocating for peace in the region.
"The United States rejects any targeting of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani," the embassy stated in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), adding that "Sayyid Al-Sistani is a prominent religious figure who enjoys great respect in the international community."
"Grand Ayatollah Sayyid al-Sistani is viewed by the United States as a leading and decisive voice in advancing a more peaceful region."
