Government spokesman Basim Al-Awadi confirmed today, Sunday, that the government has made efforts to keep Iraq away from the battlefield, while pointing out that endangering Iraq's stability will result in a negative ambience that harms the supreme interests.

Al-Awadi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that "The Iraqi government has made exceptional efforts (local, regional and international) to keep Iraq away from the battlefield, and to adhere to the supreme interests of Iraq, foremost of which are the decisions of the Iraqi state as the first protector and defender of Iraq and officially responsible for drawing the paths of foreign relations and the owner of the constitutional right in the matter of the decision of war and peace."

He added that "the government communicated with all concerned parties internally and externally and sent clear messages that endangering Iraq's stability will result in a negative ambience that harms the country's supreme interests politically, economically and socially," noting that "the basic path in dealing with the crises of Gaza and Lebanon, as defined by the supreme authority, is three levels:
    - Political path
    - Relief path
    - Media path

Al-Awadi stated that "the government and the active parties covered these paths in all their forms with movement and hard work that placed Iraq in the first place Islamically and Arab in standing with Palestine and Lebanon," noting that "the government took all available military and security measures that preserve the country's sovereignty."

He pointed out that "the crisis is international and therefore no country can solve it without international and global intervention from major countries or the UN Security Council, as contributions were timid and inconclusive in stopping the course of the war and finding an immediate ceasefire and serious initiatives to draw new rules of engagement."

He explained that “In times of crisis, the role of all political and media elites emerges in standing behind the comprehensive national decision and contributing with an effective and vital role in preserving national interests, averting the specter of wars, and taking into account the country’s political and economic circumstances, while supporting the three paths referred to as an agreed-upon roadmap.”
