The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed today, Sunday, that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani's visit to the United Kingdom will take place at a later date.

The ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that "Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein received the British Ambassador to Iraq, Stephen Hitchen, in Baghdad today, Sunday," indicating that "during the meeting, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between Iraq and the United Kingdom were discussed, including the visit that the Prime Minister was scheduled to make to the United Kingdom, which was postponed and is expected to take place at a later date."

"The two sides discussed the future visit aimed at establishing sustainable relations between the two countries by signing the strategic partnership and cooperation agreement, which will contribute to strengthening the economic partnership in a way that serves the interests of the two countries," noting that "the regional situation was addressed, especially the war waged by the zionist entity in Gaza Strip and Lebanon."

The minister stressed "the need to stop military operations in Gaza and Lebanon," calling for "finding solutions that would calm the situation and avoid expanding the scope of the conflict."

He stressed "the importance of achieving calm in the region to avoid the outbreak of a large-scale war that would lead to a large-scale humanitarian disaster."
In another part of the conversation, the ambassador explained his country's policy on the tense situation in the region, and stressed that "the British government is in continuous contact with all parties and governments in order to ease tensions and end crises."
