The Ministry of Foreign Affairs-MOFA announced the successful rescue and repatriation of a kidnapped Yazidi woman through to joint efforts with the National Intelligence Service.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), MOFA revealed, "We announce the repatriation of Fawzia Amin Sido, a kidnapped Yazidi woman, who was freed through collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Intelligence Service, in close coordination with the U.S. embassies in Baghdad and Amman, as well as Jordanian authorities, following over four months of persistent efforts and follow-up."
The statement further clarified that "the kidnapped woman, aged 21 and originally from Qahtaniya/Al-Adnaniya Complex, had been abducted by ISIS terrorists and transported across multiple countries before being liberated yesterday through direct coordination, under the supervision of the Foreign Minister, and in cooperation with the aforementioned authorities."
The ministry also confirmed that "the woman was reunited with her family this evening upon her return to Iraq," adding that it remains committed to ensuring the rescue of all kidnapped individuals, whether Yazidi or from other communities, who were taken outside Iraq.
Additionally, the ministry emphasized its dedication to contributing to national efforts aimed at rehabilitation, reintegration into society, and bringing perpetrators to justice.
