The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today, Thursday, that Paris will host an international conference on October 24 to support the people and sovereignty of Lebanon.
In a statement, the ministry noted that the conference is being organized at the initiative of President Emmanuel Macron and will include participation from the United Nations, the European Union, international and regional organizations, as well as non-governmental organizations.
The aim of the conference is to mobilize international efforts to address the Lebanese people's needs for protection and assistance, and to discuss ways to support the Lebanese Armed Forces.
According to the ministry, the conference will also emphasize the necessity of reaching a diplomatic solution that facilitates the return of displaced persons in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.
The Ministry also reaffirmed France's support for efforts to elect a president in Lebanon.
