After smuggling a 4-day-old child, NSS arrests a human trafficking gang

    The National Security Service announced today, Thursday, the arrest of an international human trafficking gang that smuggled a 4-day-old child into Baghdad.

    The Service stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "Based on accurate intelligence information and great technical effort, the National Security Service detachments in Baghdad, after obtaining judicial approvals, were able to arrest an international gang consisting of a man and a woman of foreign nationality."

    He added that "the gang was able to enter the country with a 4-day-old child in their possession, with the aim of selling him to someone after a prior agreement between them for $40,000, before our units were able to arrest them and hand the child over to the competent authorities," noting that "the gang admitted to previously selling a (14)-day-old child to a sterile woman."

    In another operation, the agency explained that "its detachments were able to arrest another person accused of human trafficking in the capital, Baghdad, with 3 children without having any identification documents," noting that "all the accused were handed over to the judicial authorities to take the necessary measures against them."
