The joint operation command (JOC) elaborates today, Monday, their latest operations against ISIS terrorists gangs.
The deputy commander of the Joint Operations Command, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir al-Shammari, said in a press conference, attended by the Iraqi news agency (INA):" JOC seeks to exempt the sources in the international borders from the Arbitration Proceedings, as well as the issue of achieving the defensive lines and enhancing the border strip in this area”
Al-Shammari also added that “the security situation on the borders is completely reassuring, and there is complete control over the international border line, and there will be a second defensive line for the Iraqi army units,” noting that “there are three regiments, the first from the Federal Police and two regiments of rapid response forces to reinforce the 17th Brigade area of responsibility ".
Regarding the air strikes, Al-Shammari declared that" the security services exerted utmost efforts during the past two months , to identify the enemy hideouts , as they carried out many air strikes , resulted killing the terrorists hiding there.”
He noted, "During the last December of the year 2021, and based on intelligence information from AIFI, Military Intelligence Services, NSS, the intelligence service and security agencies actively participated in providing us with information, as the Iraqi Air Force was able to carry out 29 air strikes during the past month, during which 15 terrorists were killed, 10 hideouts, and 2 caves and two camps were destroyed.
He continued, "while during the current month, 22 air strikes have been carried out, resulted in the of killing 22 terrorists, destroying 4 hideouts, 2 caves, an abandoned house and two wheels with a motorcycle."
While the Commander of the Counter-Terrorism Service-CTS, Abdul-Wahhab Al-Saadi, said during the press conference attended by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "CTS carried out 21 duties during the past month, in addition to the arrest of 17 wanted and they are now under investigation."
CTS carried out many military activities, in coordination with the leadership of the naval, air forces and the army's aviation, including two important training activities, which are the hijacked plane at Baghdad airport and a hijacked ship in Basra province, Al-Saadi also added.
Al-Saadi pointed out, "The operations of the CTS are still continuing," stressing that "it has obtained a lot of information about the sleeping cells located in the regions."
The leader of the National Security Service-NSS, Hamid Al-Shatri, also told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "NSS continues its duties through the intelligence effort to collect the information, cooperate with intelligence agencies, organize this information and deliver it to the Joint Operations Command through the targeting cell," noting that "the information which was sent by NSS during this month led to the killing of 28 terrorists in ISIS, as well as dismantling of a number of terrorist cells in Mosul".
Al-Shatri added that "NSS also arrested number of drug dealers and confiscated large quantities of drugs, as well as the seizure of a number of sabotage groups targeting the country's security."
In turn, Federal Police Commander Saleh Nasser Al-Amiri said, "The forces arrested, during the last period, about 151 drug abusers, resolved 456 clan disputes, and found 1,249 IEDs, 21 explosive belts, as well as a number of weapons and ammunition."
Al-Amiri added ," the forces found 406 rockets , as well as 117 rocket launchers, mortars and war projectiles, in addition to the destruction of 406 hideouts, 52 tunnels and killing 25 terrorists."
On the other hand, Al-Amiri explained that the governorates of Kirkuk and Salah al-Din are witnessing stable security situation, as the police are showing great work in these provinces, especially in cooperation with the army sectors."
The Commander of the Border Guard Forces, Lieutenant-General Hamed Al-Husseini, confirmed during the press conference, that "The forces have begun to develop a strategic plan to control the borders with Syria," stressing that "15 billion dinars have been allocated as government support to secure the borders with Syria."
He pointed out that "The borders are completely covered with thermal cameras," noting that "the forces control most of the smuggling operations across the border."
The Commander of the Air Force, Lieutenant-General, Shehab Jahid, said in the conference that "the last month of 2021 and during the first month of 2022, the forces carried out more than 60 raids of combat reconnaissance and armed reconnaissance."
He added, "All aircraft of the Air Force support all operations sectors, whether in Nineveh, Salah al-Din, al-Azeem, Baghdad and Tarmiyah."
Baghdad Operations Commander, Lieutenant-General Ahmed Salim, said during the conference that “Baghdad Operations Command was concerned with imposing security and stability within the administrative borders of the capital, Baghdad," noting that "during the current month, there were qualitative operations carried out by BOC during the sectors attached to it."
Salim added, "On the eighteenth of this month, there was a qualitative duty based on very accurate intelligence information from Baghdad security, and the duty was carried out in the northern Taji area," explaining that "the duty was carried out by the 8th Brigade, the Second Division, Federal Police, Tarmiyah People Regiment, and the reconnaissance battalion of Baghdad Operations Command resulted in caring a raid on the enemy."
He pointed out that "An entire detachment, numbering 3 terrorists, was killed, one of them called Khalil al-Jubouri, who was responsible for causing al-Kadhimiya bombing on June 2, 2021," adding that "another event was carried out on the 24th of this month in north Baghdad as well, and based on confirmed information from NSS, Baghdad Security Directorate and Military Intelligence were carried out by Tarmiyah Regiment and the 59th Brigade.
