Hezbollah’s Deputy Secretary-General, Sheikh Naim Qassem, declared his support for the ceasefire initiative spearheaded by the Secretary-General of the Amal Movement, Nabih Berri, emphasizing that the core mission of the resistance remains the defense of Gaza, Lebanon, and its people.
In a televised statement, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Sheikh Qassem remarked, “The Zionist enemy has incurred substantial losses, particularly in the north. This battle is waged by the Palestinian people themselves, with the goal of liberating their land.”
He underscored the pivotal role played by Iran in extending significant support to the resistance movements in both Palestine and Lebanon, asserting that the Zionist entity would not have withstood the resistance without foreign backing.
Qassem condemned the actions of the Zionist occupation, characterizing them as systematic violence against civilians and unprecedented in history. He referred to the ongoing operations as an extraordinary and unparalleled event.
He further noted that the resistance efforts in Yemen and Lebanon have inflicted considerable economic and military damage on the Zionist entity , and that the northern front has forced the displacement of settlers for over 11 months.
He reiterated that the battle is not a contest for Iranian influence but rather an effort to assist the Palestinian people in their quest for liberation. Sheikh Qassem affirmed, “The resistance remains steadfast, our forces are cohesive, and our operations against Zionist aggression continue unabated.”
In conclusion, he voiced his full support for the ceasefire initiative being led by Nabih Berri and noted that Hezbollah would proceed with the election of its Secretary-General in accordance with internal organizational mechanisms.
