Interior Ministry: Arrest of 57 international drug networks

    The General Directorate of Narcotics Affairs at the Ministry of Interior announced on Saturday, the arrest of 57 international drug networks in Baghdad and the governorates.
     

    The Director of the Directorate's Media Department, Hussein Youssef Al-Tamimi, said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Directorate inflicted new heavy losses on international drug traffickers under the supervision of the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, and around the clock, and based on the directives of the Director General of Intelligence Narcotics Affairs through his presence on the ground within the preemptive strikes and qualitative operations and according to intelligence information."
     
    The statement pointed out that "an unprecedented series of successive arrests were carried out, which succeeded in reaching (57) international drug networks, their routes, smuggling methods, and methods of concealing narcotics."
     
    It added that "the drug networks were dismantled pursuant to judicial decisions issued by the Central Investigation Court in Rusafa, the First Karkh Investigation Court, and the competent investigative courts in the governorates."
