Al-Moayyad calls on the media to show mourning

    INA - BAGHDAD

    The Chairman of the Communications and Media Commission, Ali Al-Muayyad, offered his condolences on Saturday on the martyrdom of Sayyed Nasrallah, calling on the media to show mourning based on the official position of the state.

    "With great sadness and sorrow, we offer our condolences to the honorable people of Iraq and Lebanon and the entire Islamic nation, on the martyrdom of the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and his companions, who were martyred in a treacherous Zionist bombing that targeted Beirut on Friday evening," included a statement by the Commission quoted Al-Muayyad as saying - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA. 

    Al-Muayyad added, "This criminal act that targeted a leadership figure known for his firm positions and courage in confronting injustice and aggression is an attack on all human values."

    "As we share the deep sorrow of the brotherly Lebanese people at this painful moment and offer our condolences on the martyrdom of their patient and struggling leader, we affirm that the steadfastness and courage of the Lebanese people in confronting this aggression will remain immortal lessons recorded in the pages of history," he added.

    Al-Muayyad pointed out that "in line with the announcement of PM Muhammed S. Al-Sudani of a three-day mourning period in the country, we call on the Iraqi media to show official mourning and express solidarity with the brotherly Lebanese people in this great tragedy."
