Al-Sudani, Iranian President discuss bilateral cooperation

    Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met today with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, at the Governmental Palace in Baghdad this meeting marked the beginning of President Pezeshkian's official visit to Baghdad, during which various topics of mutual interest were discussed, aiming to enhance cooperation and partnership between the two countries.
     
    A statement from the Prime Minister's Office received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated, “During the meeting, Prime Minister Al-Sudani welcomed President Pezeshkian, noting that this was his first official foreign visit since taking office he recalled the contributions of the late President Ebrahim Raisi towards Iraq, stressing the importance of bilateral cooperation in addressing economic and security challenges in the region, which are essential for stability and development.”
     
    The statement added ,”in response, President Pezeshkian expressed his gratitude to Iraq and the Iraqi government for the warm reception he emphasized Iran's desire to strengthen bilateral relations and continue with programs and memoranda of understanding between the two nations.”
     
    It explained,”President Pezeshkian also presented Prime Minister Al-Sudani with a gift, a framed message from the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, expressing appreciation for Iraq's efforts in hosting pilgrims during the Arba'een pilgrimage of Imam Hussein and his companions, highlighting this as a reflection of Islamic generosity and Arab hospitality.”
     
    The meeting concluded with an exchange of symbolic gifts, reinforcing the deep friendship between the neighboring countries.
