The Border Ports Commission (BPC) announced, on Tuesday, new statistics on the number of foreigners arriving in Iraq to commemorate the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
The spokesman for the Border Ports Commission , Alaa Al-Din Al-Qaisi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The total number of foreign visitors arriving through land and air ports from August 6 to August 19 to commemorate the Arbaeen pilgrimage reached (2,713,156) visitors, while the total number of departing visitors reached (1,077,582) pilgrim," noting that "the total number of arriving Iranian pilgrim reached (2,510,421) pilgrim, while the number of departing pilgrim reached (997,637) pilgrim."
Al-Qaisi added that "the total number of Afghan pilgrim arriving reached (26941) pilgrim, while the number of departing pilgrim reached (2109) pilgrim, while the number of Pakistani pilgrim arriving reached (19245) pilgrim, while the number of departing pilgrim reached (2157) pilgrim," noting that "the number of Azerbaijani pilgrim arriving reached (9240) pilgrim, while the number of departing pilgrim reached (73) pilgrim, while the number of pilgrim arriving from other nationalities reached (117819) pilgrim, while the number of departing pilgrim reached (75568) pilgrim."
He stressed that "the process of transporting pilgrim is proceeding smoothly at all land and air ports without any obstacles or delays," noting that "food supplies continue to enter through the trade exchange process despite the increasing number of pilgrim."
