Rashid stresses the importance of the independence of the Afghan decision

The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, stressed the importance of the independence of the Afghan decision.

A statement by the Presidency of the Republic, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated, "The President of the Republic, Abd al-Latif Jamal Rashid, received today, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad, the delegation of the Council of Shiite Scholars in Afghanistan."

The President of the Republic said, according to the statement, that "the Afghan people have suffered a lot over the past decades, and the tragedies they suffer from should be overcome," expressing "Iraq's sympathy with the Afghan people, support for civil and societal peace, internal cohesion among all its components, strengthening security and stability, respect for diversity and freedoms, and avoiding violence and intimidation."

He stressed "the importance of the independence of the Afghan decision and the need to find ways to raise the level of internal dialogue for the Afghan people to ensure access to the required participants," noting "the inevitability of the Afghan government representing all components of its people to achieve their aspirations in building a state of stability and prosperity."

For its part, the delegation gave an explanation about the situation in Afghanistan, expressing its "thanks and appreciation to the President for the warm reception."

The Afghan delegation praised "Iraq's positions in support of the Afghan people and calling for security and stability in Afghanistan."
