Ministry of Oil signs contracts to develop 13 exploration patches and oil fields

    The Ministry of Oil announced today, Wednesday, the signing of 13 initial contracts with the winning companies to develop fields and exploration blocks within the fifth and sixth supplementary licensing rounds, while indicating that these contracts will add large quantities of oil production estimated at 750 thousand barrels per day, in addition to investing 850 cubic feet per day of gas.
     
    Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil Hayan Abdul Ghani confirmed in a statement by the Ministry of Oil - received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "the ministry's keenness and serious efforts to maximize oil production, in addition to optimal investment of gas through the development of oil and gas fields and exploration blocks." He added, "These contracts will add large quantities of oil production estimated at 750 thousand barrels per day, in addition to investing 850 cubic feet per day of gas," noting that these quantities and production and investment capacities of gas aim to achieve flexibility in equipping power generation stations with gas fuel, in addition to supporting the energy sector in Iraq."
     
    The Minister of Oil indicated according to the statement that "the ministry signed with the winning companies with the initials contracts for developing oil fields and exploration blocks, where the contract for the Al-Faw exploration block, Jabal Sanam, Sumer, Abu Khaima, Dima field, Allan and Sasan, Al-Khulaisiya exploration block, Al-Qarnain, Zurbatiya exploration block, and the exploratory patch No. (7), Al-Dhafriya exploration block, the East Baghdad field, and the Middle Euphrates fields were signed."
     
    For his part, the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Extraction Affairs, Basim Muhammad Khudair, said: "These contracts that were signed today will be sent to the Ministerial Council for Energy to obtain approvals for the purpose of final signing of contracts to begin implementing development operations, indicating that these projects will improve the country's economic reality and provide the required quantities of gas for self-sufficiency.
