Al-Sistani issues a fatwa forbids transfer and trade of drugs, money earned through it considered Haram

    Answers to a set of inquiries concerning drugs, their transportation, use, and trade were released on Monday by the Supreme Religious Authority Sayyid Ali al-Sistani's office  .

    According to the highest authority's response, "All forms of drugs are "Haram" and the money obtained from them is prohibited; however, certain narcotic drugs may be used on a doctor's recommendation.

    Al-Sistani continued, saying that "drugs are illegal regardless of how they are transported or traded, and anyone deals with people who smuggle or trade drugs should be boycotted.

    "Officials who neglect in the fight against drugs and fail to perform their duties, they commit a double sin and must resign," the office stated, adding that  higher authorities in charge of matters have a major responsibility in clearing the security and judicial agencies of corrupt and corruption."

    He made the statement that "people must be educated to keep the threat of drugs away from society by cultural and religious centers and institutions."

    According to the Authority's answer, the office indicated that "the repentance of everyone who was using drugs and repented and continued treatment until the last stages and did not return to drugs permanently is accepted, and the right of a mother addicted to drugs is forfeited from custody of children if there is harm to their safety."
