Baghdad - INA
The leadership of the Abbasid Combat Division revealed today, Friday, details about the formation of the division and the scenes of the issuance of the Fatwa of Sufficient Jihad, and while it indicated that there is a legal justification for the possession of weapons by the thresholds, it confirmed that the holy Abbasid shrine (p) was ready to fight before the fall of Mosul.
The supervisor of the Al-Abbas Combat Division, Maytham Al-Zaidi, said in a televised interview, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Before the issuance of the fatwa of the Sufficient Jihad, there were security collapses, and we expected this collapse to occur through indicators that were reaching us through our private channels with the security forces."
He added, "The compass at that time turned towards Najaf, where the supreme reference is based, because it is the sincere father of all the Iraqi people, and we all waited for something to be issued from Najaf after the fall of Mosul, because we felt that through the many warnings issued by the reference through Friday sermons before the security collapse."
Al-Zaidi stressed that " Al-Sistani, with his fatwa, established what is greater than the popular mobilization, which is the state of rush and enthusiasm to defend Iraq through the legitimate and public stimulus provided by the reference to the security forces and volunteers."
Regarding the possession of weapons by the Abbasid shrine, the commander of the Al-Abbas Combat Division explained: "The law of the thresholds gives us legal legitimacy that the holy shrines must be defended by equipping us with weapons by buying them or ordering them from the official authorities,” noting that “some security leaders told us that we should buy weapons before the fatwa is issued because the situation is heading towards collapse.”
Al-Zaidi confirmed that "our youth in the Abbasid holy shrine (p) were training to fight at Baghdad airport before the fall of Mosul, and when it fell, they headed to Balad base to prevent the fall of Samarra and the targeting of Hassan Askari holy shrine (p)."
And about the scenes of the formation of the Abbasid Combat Division, Al-Zaidi revealed a meeting held after the issuance of the Fatwa of Sufficient Jihad to form a military force to defend the holy shrines.
He said: "The representative of the reference, Mr. Ahmed Al-Safi, suggested the formation of joint forces between the two holy shrines of Husseiniya and the Abbasid before the formation of the Abbasid Combat Division," stressing that: "We asked the official authorities to form the division to be among the official military forces. ".
The general supervisor of the division pointed out that "after the fatwa was issued, the Abbasid Combat Division held the borders of the holy city of Karbala in the direction of Al-Rafia and Al-Rahalia."
Al-Zaidi indicated that "the fatwa and the Iraqis are the ones who liberated the land of Iraq," pointing to the presence of the support of those he called friends.
He stated that: "The fatwa and Iraqis are the basis for the liberation of Iraqi lands, and then comes the role of the supportive friends," noting that "without the army, we would not have liberated an inch of Iraqi land, and without the the popularmobilization forces , we would not have also been able to liberate the rest of the regions in Iraq."
He stressed that the survival of the popular mobilization forces is necessary to deter regional and international ambitions, noting that "all experts and specialists, even those who have a position on the PMF , said that the presence of the PMF is necessary in Iraq to deter international and regional ambitions."
Regarding the development of the Abbasid Combat Division (Al-Kafeel Tank 1), Al-Zaidi explained that "the idea of development came to support the Iraqi army, not to distinguish the Abbasid Combat Division from it. The official military establishment, in turn, agreed and thanked the division and instructed us to support us with the required approvals.
(Al-Kafeel 1) is the Soviet tank T55. All of its parts were developed by the Abbasid Combat Division (supervised by the Abbasid holy shrine) with a new engine and chassis radically different from the original tank, and the design was announced in 2017 by the division commander Maytham Al-Zaidi
