Iraq and Egypt discuss enhancing joint cooperation in the field of oil and gas

    The Iraqi Ambassador to Cairo, Qahtan Taha Khalaf, discussed with the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, today, Wednesday, enhancing joint cooperation in the fields of oil and gas.
     
    The correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA) explained that "the Iraqi Ambassador to Cairo, Qahtan Taha Khalaf, discussed with the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, during the meeting that took place between them in the New Alamein City enhancing joint cooperation in the fields of oil and gas and increasing the role and contribution of Egyptian companies in implementing projects inside Iraq."
     
     
    Khalaf pointed out, "the opportunities available to develop cooperation and open up areas for Egyptian companies in light of Iraq's expansion in projects to exploit associated gas in light of the strategy to employ Iraqi natural gas resources," noting, "the importance of the Egyptian-Iraqi memorandum of understanding in the field of oil and gas, which was renewed last year, through which cooperation opportunities between the companies of the two countries can be maximized."
     
    In turn, the Egyptian minister stressed the importance of "launching cooperation between the two countries in the field of oil and gas to benefit from the opportunities available to the two countries and support the exchange of expertise," explaining, "the distinguished capabilities and potential of Egyptian companies in the field of implementing projects locally and regionally support opportunities to increase their activities in Iraq." 
    He pointed out, "the regional success of Egyptian companies such as Petrojet, Enppi, Sun Misr and Egyptian Drilling, and the success of the partnership between Iraq and Egypt in the oil sector over the past years."
