Minister of Electricity, Ziad Ali Fadhil, held an expanded meeting today, Thursday, for the advanced staff of the General Company for Transmission of Southern Electricity, while discussing the stages of the Gulf and Kuwaiti interconnections.
The ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Minister of Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadhil, inspected - during his visit to Basra Governorate - the headquarters of the General Company for Transmission of Southern Electricity.".
He added that "he chaired an expanded meeting of the advanced staff in the company and reviewed the status of equipment in the governorate and the southern governorates and the completed projects, and those under construction, as part of the plan to resolve bottlenecks for the current summer.
"The Director General of Southern Energy Transmission provided a comprehensive explanation to the minister about the power transmission line projects in the southern governorates and their completion rates. The minister also reviewed the project to connect and operate the Al-Faw 400 station, which was recently completed, and which represents the first phase of the Gulf interconnection project.
According to the statement, Fadhil discussed with those present to complete the interconnection line with the State of Kuwait, where the most important obstacles and treatments were reviewed.".
The minister directed to overcome these obstacles and take appropriate solutions to solve the problems raised, stressing the "speedy completion of periodic and emergency maintenance work and the completion of all projects under construction on time.".
