The Basra-Haditha pipeline project aims to achieve high flexibility in the transportation of crude oil, as confirmed by the Ministry of Oil on Monday. The Ministry also reiterated its denial of MP Amer Abdul Jabbar's statements regarding the cost, ownership, or privileges granted by Iraq to neighboring countries regarding crude oil, along with other inaccurate information.
The ministry stated in a statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "It is startling how certain political figures and individuals persist in manipulating public opinion by using certain media, news websites, and social media platforms to purposefully misrepresent the facts and undermine the public interest."
The statement continued, "The Ministry of Oil would like to clarify that the information contained in Mr. Amer Abdul-Jabbar's repeated statements through the media lacks accuracy and objectivity, whether with regard to cost or ownership, the employment of manpower from neighboring countries, or endeavors related to the project, and other irresponsible talk towards the ministry and the project," in response to the inaccurate and misleading information in his statements regarding the crude oil pipeline (Basra - Haditha)."
In addition to future projects that aim to enhance export outlets across neighboring countries (Turkey, Syria, and Jordan, including the development road project, which is under preparation and study at the moment), the ministry emphasized that "the crude oil pipeline project (Basra - Haditha) aims to achieve high flexibility in the process of transporting crude oil for the purposes of equipping refineries, warehouses, and electric power plants within the Iraq," adding that "decisions have not been made on them."
"We have already clarified that the crude oil pipeline project will be implemented by the national effort in the Oil Projects Company, in cooperation with the General Iron and Steel Company at the Ministry of Industry and Minerals," it said.
The ministry rejected "all statements and allegations in this regard, because they represent harm to the public interest," pointing out that it "reserves its legal right to respond to the abuses it is subjected to."
The ministry expressed its hope that "all bodies, individuals and the media will be accurate, objective and professional honesty in the dissemination and circulation of information, and to adopt the official statements issued by the ministry, in the service of the public interest."
