The Secretary-General of the Asaib Ahl al-Haq movement, Sheikh Qais al-Khazali, condemned today, Friday, the Turkish incursion into Iraqi territory.
Sheikh Al-Khazali said in his blog post on the (X) website, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “We strongly condemn the recent Turkish incursion Iraqi lands, and at a time when we affirm Iraq’s position rejecting the use of Iraqi lands to attack neighboring countries.” We warn against attempts to exploit this as a pretext to occupy parts of our country in Iraqi Kurdistan, and to create a new border line, by cutting off vast areas of Iraq’s territory.”
Sheikh Khazali added, “From a standpoint of responsibility, we call on the Kurdistan Regional Government to coordinate with the federal government, to take a unified position that puts an end to Turkish ambitions in our beloved north.”
He called on neighboring Turkey to "observe the rights of the neighbourhood, abide by the agreements between the two countries, and withdraw its forces from all of Iraq, and after that it will depend on Iraq to prevent any aggression against its territory emanating from its territory."
