The Iraqi diver Muhammad Al-Muayyad achieved today, Saturday, a historic achievement in the depths of the Red Sea by opening the flag of Iraq and the banner of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) at a depth of 55 meters in the famous Blue Hole area in the city of Dahab in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The Iraqi News Agency (INA) correspondent said: “The Iraqi diver Muhammad Al-Muayyad achieved a historic achievement by opening the flag of Iraq and the banner of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) at a depth of 55 meters in the famous Blue Hole area in the city of Dahab in the Arab Republic of Egypt.”
He added, "This achievement is the culmination of intensive training efforts that continued over three years, which included more than 400 hours of training to obtain the necessary certificates that qualified him to embark on this adventure."
He pointed out, “Al-Moayad obtained a diving instructor certificate from the international PADI organization, which is considered the best in this field and applies the highest standards of quality and safety in teaching diving, making him currently the only Iraqi trainer to hold this prestigious certificate within the PADI organization. In addition, Al-Moayad obtained three certificates as a technical diver for depths of 40, 45 and 50 metres, which are the first certificates of their kind obtained by an Iraqi diver in the country’s history.”
He continued, "Technical diving is considered the highest degree of professional diving, as the diver at these depths is exposed to great pressure exceeding 6 bar of atmospheric pressure, which requires inhaling certain gases depending on each depth. The error rate in technical diving is zero, as any error may leads to the loss of the diver's life.
He continued, "After obtaining all these special training and certificates, Al-Muayyad succeeded in carrying out a technical dive to open the two flags, thus becoming the first Iraqi to descend to this depth and the first to open the Iraqi flag and the banner of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) in this famous place, where the dive took 61 minutes, during which he remained at a depth of 55 meters for 20 minutes in the cave separating the Blue Hole from the open sea.”
