Interior Minister: the commander-in-chief approved the allocation of a seaport to the arrivals at the Arbaeen visit

    Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, the interior minister announced on Sunday that the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces agreed to allocate a sea port for the Arbaeen visitors to coming through regional waters. 

    A Statement by the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that,  "The Minister of Interior the chairman of the Supreme Security Committee to secure the Arbaeen visit , Abdul Amir al-Shammari, chaired an expanded meeting at the ministry's headquarters, in the presence of the deputy commander of Joint Operations, members of the service and Security Committee and a number of field commanders, to discuss the ongoing preparations to secure the upcoming Arbaeen visit of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). 

    Al-Shammari stressed that" this visit is of great importance, it brings together two million, especially since the participation in it is from inside and outside the country", pointing out that "it is one of the most important visits in the Islamic world, and it is a great follow-up”. 

    The minister stressed that" the numbers of arrivals from outside Iraq last year amounted to about five million visitors ",expecting "an increase in this number". 

    "This requires more preparations from now for the success of this eternal anniversary, and work to secure all security and service supplies and land ports" he said. 

    Al-Shammari pointed out that "one of the most prominent problems that occur during this visit are traffic accidents and it is necessary to develop a tight plan", directing "the director of public traffic to put the necessary remedies in this regard and secure the roads leading to the holy city of Karbala and the rest of the other holy cities”.

     "The commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces has agreed to add a new sea port from the city of Al-muhammara to the port of Abu flus in Basra province, in order to be an outlet for visitors coming through regional waters", al-Shammari said. 

    He stressed" the importance of intensifying efforts and providing the best services to all visitors in a manner befitting them through the development of a joint action plan, especially that the country will receive visitors from all ports ", stressing the need to "harness all possibilities for this blessed visit”.
