SJC instructs the courts to receive the local election's winners for legal oath

    The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), on Monday, directed the heads of appellate courts to receive the local election's winners to take legal oath.

    SJC stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "The Supreme Judicial Council held its session today chaired by The President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zaidan”.

    The statement added that "The council approved during the session the promotion of a number of judges and members of the public prosecution and the granting of judicial positions that require the approval of formations in some presidencies of Appeal according to the proposal submitted by the presidency of Appeal".

    The statement continued " After the Independent High Electoral Commission announcement to certify the final results of the provincial councils elections that are not regular in a region, the council directed the heads of the courts of appeal to receive the winners to take the oath of office in front of the head of appeal exclusively at the headquarters of the presidencies of the courts of Appeal .In Baghdad, the oath of office ceremonies are at the headquarters of Baghdad/ Karkh Court of Appeal pursuant to the provisions of Article No. 29 of irregular provinces in the region law No. 21 of 2008”.
