INSS announces the arrest of 689 Drug Trafficking accused during the Year

The Iraqi National Security Service -NSS announced, on Saturday, the arrest of 689 drug trafficking and promotion accused during the Year. 

NSS said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "During a whole year, our heroic men in the Iraqi National Security Service (INSS) have provided painstaking efforts and qualitative achievements in the field of drug control, in accordance with accurate intelligence work and with a high degree of efficiency."

The statement added that "an extensive security campaign was carried out, represented by dismantling of local and international networks trading in various types of drugs, which resulted in the arrest of 689 accused in trafficking and promotion and the seizure of large quantities of narcotic substances."

The statement stressed that "the war on drugs is not over and will remain ongoing until this scourge is completely eradicated to protect our society from addiction and all those who try to tamper with homeland security and stability."
