The Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring Authority expected, today, Friday, that most of Iraq's governorates will continue to record temperatures around fifty degrees Celsius or higher until next Monday, while setting a date for the heat waves to recede.

"The weather forecasting department previously noted that the country was affected by a severe heat wave as a result of the deepening of the seasonal temperature depression, starting from today, Friday, and continuing until next Monday," Amer Al-Jabri, media director of the Meteorology Authority, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

He added, "All regions of the country will be affected, especially the center and the south, as it is expected that temperatures will be recorded in the range of 50-52 degrees Celsius," noting that "the temperatures have been fluctuating since last July, between high and low, as they decreased by 3-4 degrees before the new heat wave.".

He continued, "Climate change is one of the causes affecting the rise and fluctuation of temperatures, so we see that it is between a continuous rise and fall, and we believe that the fluctuation will continue until mid-September, when temperatures begin to decline."
