Al-Sistani's office: Next Thursday is the first day of Muharram

The office of the supreme authority, Marja', Sayyid Ali al-Sistani, announced that next Thursday will be the first day of the holy month of Muharram.
"The sighting of the crescent with the bared eye has not been proven in Iraq and its neighboring regions after sunset on Tuesday (29 / Dhu al-Hijjah), and therefore tomorrow, Wednesday, will be a complement to the number of this month," said Al-Sistani's office, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
The statement included, “Thursday will be the first of the sacred month of Muharram in the year 1445 AH.”
