The Iraqi National Security Service INSS announced on Sunday the arrest of 3 suspects impersonating government figures in Baghdad.
"According to accurate intelligence information and through the collection and verification of information and evidence, and after obtaining judicial approvals, the detachments of the INSS were able to arrest 3 suspects in the Jadriya area of Baghdad after they carried out fraud operations in the manner of impersonating government officials," INSS said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
INSS added that "the defendants were seized in possession of a large number of transactions, documents, passports and MasterCards, as well as sums of money, bank instruments and Badges belonging to ministries, government agencies and offices of members of the parliament," noting that "this came after a tight ambush."
it added that "the defendants were deluding citizens to send them to perform Hajj in exchange for amounts of money estimated at (6) million dinars per person," noting that "their statements were recorded fundamentally and referred with the seizures to the competent judicial authorities to take the necessary measures against them."
