The Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, expressed his thanks to Iraq for the hospitality and honor during his visit to Baghdad, while affirming his support for restoring Iraq's important role in the region and the world.
The Emir of Qatar said in a tweet, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Today, I held discussions with the Prime Minister of Iraq, Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, about ways to develop cooperation between our two countries, in addition to regional and international issues of common concern, and affirmed Qatar's support for Iraq's unity and stability and its restoration of its important role in The region and the world, thanks to the brothers in Baghdad for the hospitality and honor.”
Today, Thursday, the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, concluded his visit to Baghdad, which included the signing of a number of agreements and a declaration of joint intentions for cooperation between the governments of Iraq and Qatar.
The visit witnessed a meeting between the Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, in which they discussed the bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, and ways to develop them, for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries and the general countries of the region.
After that, the Prime Minister and the Emir of the State of Qatar presided over the expanded discussions between the delegations of the two countries, during which a number of common files between Iraq and Qatar were discussed, related to energy, transportation, economic and investment fields, and in the field of security and information cooperation.
The Prime Minister referred to the important indications of the visit, and the serious desire it expresses to develop relations between the two countries, at various levels and levels.
While the Emir of Qatar expressed his keenness to perpetuate the best relations with Iraq, and his aspiration to continue developing them, in a way that enhances partnership and integration, and opens broader horizons in various fields, he also praised Iraq's position and its important pivotal role in the region.
The Prime Minister and the Emir of Qatar sponsored the signing ceremony of a declaration of intent for cooperation, in addition to a number of agreements between the two countries.
Where a joint declaration of intent was signed between the governments of Iraq and Qatar, for comprehensive cooperation in the political, economic, energy and investment fields, as well as the signing of two agreements in the fields of air and maritime transport, and a memorandum of understanding regarding the abolition of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic passports.
A number of memorandums of cooperation were also signed in the field of energy, related to crude oil and supplying Iraq with liquefied gas, a memorandum of cooperation to establish a joint oil company and another to establish a refinery.
In the field of investment, four memorandums of cooperation were signed for the National Investment Authority, the first with the Qatari company Urbacon Holding, the second with the Qatari company (Elegance Health Care), and two memorandums of cooperation with the Qatari Investment Holding Company in the field of developing new cities, and in building and developing hotels.
While the Prime Minister held a dinner banquet in honor of the Emir of Qatar, in the presence of Speaker of Parliament Muhammad al-Halbousi, President of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani, Head of the Sovereignty Alliance Khamis al-Khanjar, and the Qatari and Iraqi delegations.
