Hanoun announces signing MOU with the UAE

    The head of the Integrity Commission, Haider Hanoun, confirmed Wednesday, the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the UAE during the current month to follow up the smuggled funds and the accused, while revealing the latest investigations into the theft of tax guarantees.

     Hanoun said in a press conference to announce the annual report of the activities and achievements of the Integrity Commission for the year 2022, which was attended by the reporter, that “the  annual report includes the achievements of the Integrity Commission for the year 2022 in combating corruption and prosecuting illegal gain, pledging to "the Iraqi people to redouble efforts so that the achievements of 2023 are different and great."

    He added, "Among the achievements, a current account was opened for the Commission , the content of which is the money recovered from corruption, as well as the completion of the agreement of the law rescue agencies for combating corruption for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah last year, which gives room for integrity."

    He pointed out, "The fight against corruption does not need theorizing, but rather a love for Iraq, a will, good tools, and work in the field," noting "the role of the Iraqi ambassador to the UAE in returning the smuggled money."

     Regarding the theft of tax guarantees , Hanoun stressed that "investigations into the theft of tax guarantees are ongoing," noting that "the last of the accused is Diaa al-Musawi."

     "We are keen on the confidentiality of the investigations," he added.
