Iraq won second place in the Arab League Prize for Law and Judiciary, today, Thursday.
The Iraqi representation in the League of Arab States said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Iraq participated in a distinguished manner in the ceremony honoring the winners of the Arab League Prize for Law and Judiciary, which was held today in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, under the patronage of the President of the Mauritanian Republic, Mohamed Ould Ghazouani, and in the presence of the Mauritanian Prime Minister, Mokhtar Ould Ajay, as well as a number of Arab Ministers of Justice, ambassadors, and prominent Arab judicial and legal figures."
The representative of the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Hussein Al-Hindawi, said - the statement: "This honor comes within the framework of Iraq's presidency of the 39th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice," noting that "a group of distinguished Arab researchers from Iraq, Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, and Syria won the awards of the second edition of the award, which was distributed today."
According to the statement, Iraq won second place in the public law category for a thesis entitled “Legal Security in the Restriction of Public Authority: A Comparative Study,” which was presented by Osama Taha Hussein from the University of Baghdad, College of Law. Meanwhile, the Iraqi scientific arbitrator, Professor Ali Al-Hilali, Dean of the College of Law at the University of Baghdad, received a certificate of appreciation and the award shield for his excellence within the Arab arbitration committee in performance.
According to the statement, the submission of these awards was limited to holders of a doctorate in private and public law and judicial studies, which comes within the work program of the Arab Center for Legal and Judicial Research, which was represented by the Vice President of the Center and the official in charge of the technical secretariat of the award affiliated with the Scientific Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice, Dr. Yousef Al-Sabaawi, who had important fingerprints in Arab scientific work in the legal and judicial field during the past five years.
