Iraq and France decide to prepare a comprehensive agreement

    Iraqi Justice Minister Khalid Shwani agreed with his French counterpart, Eric Dupont Moretti, to prepare a comprehensive agreement in the judicial and legal fields between the two parties.

    Shwani met on Monday in Paris, his French counterpart, Eric Dupont Moretti, and they held an extensive meeting, according to a statement by the Ministry of Justice, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

    The two emphasized the consolidation of Iraqi-French relations and the activation of the agreement that was signed during the Prime Minister's visit to France in the areas of justice and legal matters.

    The meeting dealt with the discussion of many legal and judicial files of common interest, "as well as the file of foreign lawsuits, including assisting Iraq in recovering funds, combating corruption, extraditing convicts, and concluding an agreement between the two ministries in the judicial and legal fields," noting that "during the meeting, it was agreed on a number of important issues, including proceeding with the conclusion of a comprehensive agreement in the judicial and legal fields, the extradition of convicts, and the formation of a joint team to discuss the details of all issues of interest by the two parties and to come up with a common vision that serves the interests of the two countries."

    Shawani expressed his aspiration to strengthen the existing friendship between the two countries, and to consolidate ways of joint cooperation, in a way that enhances the common interests between both.

    In turn, the French Minister of Justice welcomed the visit of the Minister of Justice, Khalid Shwani, and affirmed his country's keenness to strengthen relations with Iraq in various fields, especially cooperation in the judicial fields and support Iraq in files of common interest.
