The Directorate General of Intelligence and Security (DGIS) in the Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday, the arrest of 5 drug dealers, including foreign nationals, in the provinces of Najaf Al-Ashraf and Al-Muthanna.
A statement by the directorate, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “detachments of the Directorate of Intelligence and Security of Najaf Al-Ashraf, according to intelligence information, arrested 3 drug dealers and promoters of foreign nationalities, and seized crystal, antidote, and Captagon narcotic pills in their possession, through their presence in one of the hotels in the governorate.
The statement pointed out, "The defendants' statements were recorded initially and judicially, and they were arrested in accordance with the provisions of Article 28 of Drugs."
He added, "Detachments of the Muthanna Intelligence and Security Directorate were able to arrest two narcotic drug dealers and dealers red-handed they were found in possession of a quantity of narcotic crystal, which they intended to sell," pointing out that "the materials were confiscated and the accused were referred to the relevant authorities." "
