The Wasit Criminal Court issued on Tuesday, a 15-year prison sentence against a drug dealer for the crime of trafficking in narcotic substances.
The media center of the Supreme Judicial Council stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the convict was found in possession of a bag containing the narcotic substance methylamphetamine.”
The statement added, "The ruling was issued based on the provisions of Article 28/First of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 50 of 2017 and in reference to Articles 47, 48, and 49 of the Penal Code."
