MOT: 3 air transport lines with Riyadh, Sharjah and Beijing

    The Ministry of Transport confirmed, today, Tuesday, the implementation of a plan to rehabilitate Iraqi aircraft, including 8 that are currently being worked on. While it confirmed the intention to support Iraqi Airways and make it one of the active companies in the Middle East, it indicated a move to activate 3 air transport lines with Riyadh, Sharjah and Beijing.

    Ministry spokesman Maytham Al-Safi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Ministry is implementing a plan to restore maintenance of idle aircraft by contracting with originating companies to purchase engines, maintain engines, or aircraft feet,” pointing out that “it currently includes returning 8 idle aircraft to service during this year.”.

    He added, "Before that, the (Triple Seven) plane will be returned to service with Iraqi Airways in the middle of this month, and it is one of the important, wide-body aircraft.".

    On the other hand, he continued, “There is a plan to qualify Iraqi Airways to be one of the active companies in the Middle East or the world by working to lift the European ban and by organizing work at the level of the General Company for Airport Management, as well as within Iraqi Airways, which is consistent with the requirements of special international regulations.".

    He pointed out, "The Ministry has a study regarding the feasibility of lines that can be used with neighboring countries, the world, and it includes a study of re-working the Baghdad-Riyadh line, Baghdad-Sharjah line, as well as the Baghdad-Beijing line during the coming period.".
