Head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, stressed today, Thursday, the necessity of supporting the Accountability and Justice Commission to preserve the democratic experience and protect constitutional gains.
Al-Maliki said in a tweet on the X platform, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Accountability and Justice Commission is one of the transitional justice institutions. It is a constitutional body whose mission is not judicial. Still, rather it is responsible for uprooting and preventing the banned Baath Party clearing state departments of its members, and ensuring that no members of the defunct party infiltrate various state positions according to legal mechanisms that contribute to sorting out those included and those not included in the provisions of the commission.".
Al-Maliki stressed, "The necessity of supporting and strengthening the commission and sustaining its role in confronting the protection of state institutions from the infiltration of the defunct Baath and returning to political life and all other areas of life," noting that "this will preserve the democratic experience, protect constitutional gains, and prevent this party from returning."
