BOC announces securing the reception of our National Team

    Baghdad Operations Command BOC announced Friday a plan to secure the Iraqi national team's reception after being crowned champion of the Gulf Cup, while it revealed that 35 random gunshot wounds were recorded and more than 20 people who fired bullets were arrested during yesterday's celebrations.

    The Baghdad Operations Commander, Lieutenant General Ahmed Salim, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The celebration of the victory of the Iraqi team will be secured by the Special Division, as it will be in the celebration square."

     He added, "Baghdad Operations Command will secure the entry road for citizens from Al-Fares Al-Arabi Square on Al-Zaytoun Street towards the Green Zone, and this road will be cut off and citizens will be allowed to enter on foot, and there will be several checkpoints for inspection."

     He pointed out that "checkpoints from the special squad will also inspect before entering the celebration square," noting that "there is a plan to control indirect firing areas, and to secure protection for the Green Zone from the outside."


     He noted that "the rest of the areas and streets will be open, and only Al-Zaytoun Street will be closed."

     He pointed out that "the checkpoints at the entrances to Baghdad were instructed to conduct inspections of the masses coming from the provinces to celebrate in the celebrations square," stressing that "the Baghdad Operations Command started the procedures since the morning, and the plan will be implemented at 12 noon today."

    He continued, "The violations that occurred related to firing bullets are few compared to previous times, and 20 injuries were recorded in Al-Rusafa, and 15 injuries in Al-Karkh," pointing out that "Baghdad Operations Command arrested more than 20 people who fired bullets, and they were handed over to the police, and they will be referred to the judiciary according to the law.”

     It’s mentioned that Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani directed on Friday the holding of a popular celebration siuting the great achievement of the Iraqi National Team.
