PM receives an invitation from Erdogan to visit Turkey

    Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani received an invitation from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to visit Ankara.

    The media office of the Prime Minister said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani received, today, the Turkish ambassador to Iraq, Ali Reda Konay," noting that "the ambassador handed the prime minister a written letter that included an official invitation." Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to visit Turkey.

    He added, "Al-Sudani promised to accept the invitation as soon as possible," noting that "Erdogan expressed in the letter his desire to resume the meetings of the Iraqi-Turkish Strategic Cooperation Council."

    The statement continued, "The meeting witnessed discussions of the overall bilateral economic relations and ways of developing them, as well as research on the dry canal project, the formation of a joint committee to coordinate on the stages of the project, as well as procedures for facilitating the granting of entry visas to Turkish investors and technicians working in Iraq."
