Governor of Nineveh, Najm Al-Jubouri, confirmed today, Friday, that technical issues delayed the completion of the reconstruction work of Al-Nuri Mosque and Al-Hadba Minaret, while clarifying the latest developments.
Al-Jubouri explained in an exclusive statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "there is a delay due to technical reasons related to the workers' need for great time and effort in collecting the bricks that belong to the two edifices, a process that requires high accuracy to put each piece in its right place.".
He added, "The foundations of the Al-Hadba minaret have now been installed, and at the same time, the Antiquities Directorate in the governorate was able to find the original mosque below the Al-Nuri Mosque, but it is very low, and the work needs time, according to what the workers and UNESCO, which is supervising the work, confirmed to us."
