The president of the Supreme Judicial Council, Faiq Zidan, lauded on Saturday, the work of the Iraqi Women Judges Association, affirming the keenness to empower woman judges to make her assume leading positions.
Zidan said in a speech during the first annual meeting of the Iraqi Women Judges Association, which was attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "This conference is the first activity of the Association, and we are keen to give all the support that this association deserves."
He stated that "The number of female judges in 2003 was only about 6, and today there is a large and important number and we are careful and proud of the presence of a large number of woman judges and our keenness to participate in this conference and we look forward to its fruitful outputs."
For her part, the head of the Iraqi Women Judges Association, Taghreed Abdul Majeed, said in a speech during the conference, that "This conference is the first meeting of Iraqi women judges since its establishment," noting that "the president of the Supreme Judicial Council is the first supporter of woman judges."
The spokeswoman of the Association of Iraqi Women Judges, Alia Ali, said that "the Association is the first judicial women's organization in Iraq founded in 2019 with the support of the President of the Supreme Judicial Council", noting that "its aim is to support and strengthen the role of women judges and empower them to assume judicial positions through opportunities for preparation and training ."
