Ministry of Interior announced on Monday, that the curfew on census days begins at midnight on November 19-20, specifying those exempted from the Curfew.
The official spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier General Miqdad Miri, said during a press conference attended by the reporter of the Iraqi News Agency that "the curfew in order to conduct the general census of the population includes all provinces of the country, including the Kurdistan region."
He explained that "the curfew does not include air traffic and trade exchange ports," noting that "the Supreme Security Committee secured protection on census days."
He noted, "The curfew begins at midnight 19-20 of this month, and the movement of vehicles between governorates and districts will be restricted except for humanitarian cases," noting that "the measure is in order to facilitate the movement of enumerators."
He added, "Journalists, who carry badges and are authorized to move during the curfew, as well as health staff were also excluded under official authorization, along with traffic patrols, ambulances, embassies and diplomatic missions."
For his part, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Police Affairs, Lieutenant General Adel Abbas, said that "the population census came after the security successes achieved by the Ministry of Interior."
"Plans have been made to conduct this census," he said.
