The Executive Director General of the Population Census in Iraq at the Ministry of Planning, Ali Erian Saleh, confirmed today, Saturday, that contracts had been made with a group of international companies to prepare applications for the population census scheduled for the twentieth of next November.
Saleh explained in a special statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the population and housing census procedures in Iraq are continuing,” indicating that, “during the last period, contracts were made with a group of international companies that will prepare data center, call center, and tablet applications during a period of time before Implementing the general population and housing census.
He added, "The experimental census, which is a mini-census of the general population census, will be conducted this May, with the aim of testing all the applications that have been contracted with," warning that "the implementation of the experimental census will include all governorates of Iraq, including the governorates of the Kurdistan region.".
Saleh pointed out, “A group of training courses have been organized to prepare central supervisors and local supervisors, and during this month researchers will be trained on how to conduct the experimental census,” pointing out that “the transformation that took place from the paper census to the electronic census requires contracting with global companies to provide an integrated data center and communications centers.
He warned that "120,000 tablets will arrive in Iraq during the next few days, in order to implement the experimental census that includes all residents inside Iraq."
