The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, called on Russia, today, Thursday, to take an active role commensurate with its international status to stop the Zionist aggression and bring aid to Palestine and Lebanon.
The media office of the First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Al-Mandlawi received - in his guest house - the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Iraq, Al-Brus Kutrashev; to discuss a number of files of mutual interest, and to discuss local and regional developments."
Al-Mandlawi called on Russia - according to the statement - to "take a more effective role commensurate with its international status to pressure to stop the Zionist genocide crimes and provide aid to Palestine and Lebanon," warning of "a Zionist plan to attack certain countries in the region; with the aim of expanding the map of the conflict."
He explained that "stopping the aggression on Palestine must be the basis for any initiative put forward for negotiation," warning that "some major countries that call for human rights are misleading world opinion with false promises and initiatives regarding stopping the war and are secretly sponsoring killing and terrorism in the region."
The statement added that "Al-Mandlawi discussed with Kutrashev bilateral relations and ways to develop and advance them at various levels, especially in the fields of economy, investment and energy, calling for facilitating the granting of entry visas to Iraqis wishing to travel to Russia for education, treatment and tourism, in addition to strengthening and maintaining coordination, communication and cooperation between the Iraqi and Russian sides in a way that achieves the interests of the two friendly peoples and countries."
