International memoranda of cooperation for developing tourism sector in Iraq

    Tourism Authority; one of the Iraqi Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities formations; revealed on Wednesday, the Arab and international memoranda of cooperation to develop the tourism sector in Iraq.
     
    "The authority is determined to offer Lake Sawa in the Muthanna Governorate as an investment opportunity in the next few days," said the Director General of Inspection and Follow-up at the Tourism Authority, Muayad Haitham Resan to the Iraqi News Agency – INA.
     
    He noted that "there is high cooperation with Muthanna local government to restore the lake and the development of tourism in the governorate.”
     
    "The authority called on the local Muthanna government to stabilize the borders of the lake, to start rehabilitating it as a recreational and therapeutic tourist resort," Resan added, noting that "referring the lake as an investment opportunity will include an integrated program as a tourist resort with various means of transportation from the governorate center to the lake."
     
    He highlighted, saying that "there is a real desire for European countries to visit Sawa Lake in Muthanna and the tourist places in Iraq. The area of the lake reaches 60 dunums, and the lake will be converted into a water body within the next few days."
     
    "There is a serious move to restore land tourism on the island of Muthanna Governorate, which is considered one of the important tourism in Iraq and the region," he noted, pointing out that "there is Arab and international communication with the Commission to restore tourism in the province, as well as memoranda of Arab cooperation with Iraq to develop the tourism sector."
     
    Resan stressed that "the authority is ready to cooperate with any sectoral entity that develops the reality of tourism in the country," stressing that "the authority is determined to develop Babil tourist resort."
     
    He included, announcing "the imminent opening of another tourist resort in the city center of Hilla in the coming days."
