revealed that the Committee on Culture and Tourism and Antiquities in Parliament on Thursday to lift the recommendations for the establishment of the Supreme Council to support tourism, as pointed out that the tourism sector covers the country 's imports and financial.
The head of the committee, Deputy Samia al-Ghallab, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The tourism sector does not need parliamentary legislation as much as it needs to implement the legislation," noting that "the committee worked to develop the tourism sector, but there is no sufficient government support for the sector."
the committee added that "employees in the tourism sector need support and attention in general to advance the tourism reality," noting that "the committee held several conferences to develop the tourism sector, and made many recommendations for the establishment of the Supreme Council for Tourism Support and developed all plans that would advance the sector's reality and pay attention to monuments and sites tourism".
the committee also stressed that "the tourism sector could have covered the country's imports away from oil, but because of neglect we lose a lot of imports."
On the third of last March, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities announced an integrated plan to support religious and cultural tourism, while confirming that there was an exaggeration about the threat to archaeological sites.
