The Executive Office of Arab Information Ministers approved, during its 15th regular session, held in Cairo today, Wednesday, headed by Iraq, the recommendations approved by the Permanent Committee for Arab Media headed by the head of the Iraqi Media Network, Dr. Nabil Jassim.
The work of the 52nd session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers will start Tomorrow, Thursday, with the participation of Iraq represented by the Iraqi Media Network and the Communications and Media Commission, as the winners of the Arab Media Excellence Award in its fifth and sixth sessions will be awarded, including three names from the Iraqi Media Network, who were voted on in the meetings of the Arab Media Excellence Committee in the Arab League last year.
The Executive Office of Arab Information Ministers includes 9 members (Egypt as the host country for the work of the 52nd session of the Information Ministers, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Tunisia, Comoros, Kuwait, Lebanon, and Yemen).
The session’s agenda includes a number of issues, topped by the continues support of the Arab media for the Palestinian cause, and activating the objectives of the Arab media strategy 2022-2026, including how media deal with crises and disasters in light of national experiences with the “Corona” pandemic, as well as Follow-up on the plan for media action abroad and the role of the media in addressing the phenomenon of terrorism and extremism, and the Arab media map for sustainable development 2030, in addition to including educational media in the curricula of member states.
The 52nd session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers is characterized by developing the most successful participatory approaches and practical initiatives for the development of Arab media in the context of the rapid transformations of the media and digital landscape, especially with regard to completing the establishment of a unified Arab strategy to deal with major media companies (Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Netflix, GAFAN ), as well as the establishment of the observatory and the integrated platform, the preparation of the website of the Arab Committee for Electronic Media, as well as the establishment of the internal system of the "Media Excellence Award" in appreciation and gratitude to the personalities and institutions that rendered great services to the Arab media.
The Arab information ministers will also discuss a number of organizational and structural issues, and review the intensive activities and moves that have characterized the work of the Arab League missions and centers in close cooperation with the Arab ambassadors' councils in the countries of accreditation.
